Travellers and Overseas Buyers Name Manly As The Number 1 Australian Beach And Suburb

Having recently been named Australia’s top beach, and 16th in the world, in TripAdvisors 2018 Travellers’ Choice Awards, Manly was also recently identified as Australia’s top overseas destination for house hunters searching for a place in Australia to call home.

The REA Group recently revealed its list of the top 10 suburbs being viewed by overseas visitors and Manly came in first with 32,586 searches over the six months to January 31, with South Yarra in Melbourne (31,949) in second place and Surfers Paradise (29,494) coming in third.

The recent wins for Manly means it has once again beaten its famous crosstown rival south of the Harbour Bridge, Bondi, and without the help of a celebrity vet and a reality Surf Life-Saving TV show. Manly’s strong international brand combined with its northern beaches lifestyle and spectacular beach is particularly popular with US, UK and New Zealand potential buyers.

The win for Manly comes as no surprise to local real estate agents and is also supported by CoreLogic Data statistics that reveal that only 52 per cent of Manly residents were born in Australia. Manly also has a 50:50 split of owner occupiers to renters, which may also fuel interest in the suburb as international searchers will often look into the areas that they have heard good things about and where they have family and friends already living in that area.

Overall Melbourne took out five of the top ten world’s favourite Australian suburbs spots, Sydney followed with three and Queensland filled the remaining two spots.
